I’m so excited and thrilled to be part of this esteemed publication. Thankful to the Madras Courier for publishing my poem “Poem and Its Hunger” in the 239-year-old newspaper from India.

In the words of the editor :

Poetry is powerful. Poems speak to your soul. They appeal to your inner conscience, and tell tales of dreams, ambitions, hopes, and disappointments. They give voice to your innermost thoughts and help make sense of the world. Words strung together can move you; they can inspire you to make a difference.Today’s poem by Megha Sood is moving and powerful. Read it. Reflect on it.

The Madras Courier was launched on October 12, 1785, by Richard Johnston, who had earlier that year inspired The Daily Universal Register, the forerunner of The Times, London. A four-to-six-page weekly tabloid with the motto ‘Quicquid Agunt Homines’, which means ‘Whatever men do’.

The Madras Courier was an Indian English-language newspaper that ran between 1785 and 1821. It was the first newspaper to be published in Madras, Madras Presidency, British India. It was the leading newspaper of its time and was the officially recognized newspaper for printing government notifications

Happy Poetry!
