I’m honored to have my poem “An Act of Self Defense”, previously published in my full length ( “My Body Lives Like a Threat”, FlowerSong Press, 2022)  included in the anthology  “Fatal Force – Poetic Justice” to be published by Moonstone Arts. I’m honored to share the space with Martin Espada whose poem ““Officer Mark Dial, Who Shot Eddie Irizarry, Will Be Fired for Insubordination” inspired this anthology.  Honored to share the space with  Rescue Poetix, Jon Kolm, Bruce Whitacare, Austin Alexin, Mindy Kronenberg  among many others.

1345 people have been killed by police in the United States in 2023 Police officer, Mark Dial shot and killed Eddie Irizarry on August 14, 2023, in Philadelphia. Martín Espada wrote a poem entitled,
“Officer Mark Dial, Who Shot Eddie Irizarry, Will Be Fired for Insubordination” which gave rise to this anthology.

Join us as contributors, and special guest Martin Espada, read their poems on February 17th to honor poet/activist, Julia de Burgos’ birthday. She was the foremother of the Nuyorican Poetry Movement in New York which advocated
for anti-imperialism and social justice. Presented by Taller Puertorriaueno, Casa de Duende, and Moonstone
