When I heard you the first time
I shifted my gaze
to look for you in that crowded room
your deep-throated voice
stirred something inside my soul
and started something I didn’t know
When I heard you the first time
I felt as if you have called out to my sleeping soul
and shook me from my deep slumber
it chased away all the demons inside me
and rendered my soul pure
When I heard you the first time
my emotions fluttered like fireflies in a jar
ready to take flight
and soar in the endless sky
without the fear of getting caught
When I heard you the first time
my wounds began to heal
it felt so unreal
as if the time has erased
the pain I felt for so long
When I heard you the first time
your heart synced up with mine
and we resonated to the same tune
we both felt what was divine
it opened the floodgates inside me
nothing seemed to stop
what was flowing inside me
When I heard you the first time
Your soul spoke to mine
you showed me the path
that was clearly mine
I should have been
in a different universe now
if I hadn’t heard
your voice that day, somehow.

This is so beautiful! I love how you’ve used descriptive imagery. Voices really are quite unique and, sometimes, define how we feel about people even before we’ve met or seen them. Great post!
