The month of August was mostly about traveling and seeping in the experience of being close to the cradle of nature. But September had been a tough month for me and my family as we came down with Covid after escaping this dreadful infection for almost 2.5 years. September also being the birthday month brought the good news of me being nominated for the Jersey City Arts Award in the Literary Category. I’m extremely grateful to those who believed in my mission and my creative endeavors and considered me worthy enough for the nomination.
Notable publications for the month included the coveted anthology “Tapestry of Women in Indian Mythology” edited by Dr. Meenakshi Mohan and published by Hawakal Prakashan. Other publications included the “Pandemic of Violence” by North of Oxford, “Colors of Love and Barriers” edited by my soul sister and friend, Candice Daquin for Pittsburg-based Setu Publications, Visual Verse, Oprelle’s “2021 Matter” Anthology, and National Beats Poetry anthology edited by Debbie Kosun.
Unfortunately, I had to cancel/postpone/skip a few events but I’m extremely proud of my writing group “ Thursday Morning Poets’ for hosting the Poetry reading at the 91st Community Garden, NY as part of the global event 100 Thousand Poets for Change. The event was a success as they read their poetry and also decorated the garden by hanging laminated poetry around it. Really thankful to Isabella Wagner for making this happen and making me part of it even though I could not attend it.
I also received my certificate as Third Place Winner for the State Level NAMI NJ Poetry contest. Honored to share the space with JC poet Laureate Rescue Poetix. The month ended with the publication of the sixth collection of poetry by Geza Tatrallay for which I was invited to write the foreword.
Looking forward to a speedy recovery and more poetic collaborations and celebrations,
Happy Poetry!!
