Poetry selected for publication in the “Abrazos” : Letters from the Self to the World, DoveTales 10th Anniversary Anthology


I’m brimming with joy to receive the wonderful news that my three poems (“Are You Listening World?”, “Dear R”, Self Conversation on a moving train”) have been included in the esteemed anthology “Abrazos : Lettrs form the Self to the World”  published on December 15,2021 by Dove Tales, An International Journal for Arts.This edition is guest edited by Adriana Páramo.

This 591 paged book features poetry, essays, fiction and art selected work from DoveTales over the years, as well as thoughtful and profound current work from 2021. The anthology is dedicated to advisor Sam Hamill (1943-2018), and titled Abrazos in memory of the way he used to send off on his emails. The beautiful cover you see here was adapted by artist-in-residence Juniper Moon from one of Sam’s original paintings. Our Featured Writer is Susan Muaddi Darraj.

This issue  highlights past contributors, among them Sam Hamill, Martín Espada, W.S. Merwin, Adriana Páramo, Stephen Kuusisto, Veronica Golos, Patricia Jabbeh Wesley, Wang Ping, Jennifer Boyden, Paula Dawn Leitz, Lorraine Currelley, Andrea Doray, Mary Carroll-Hackett, D.M. Aderibigbe, E.Ethelbert Miller, Djelloul Marbrook, Antonia Alexandra Klimenko, Vicki Lindner, and Laura Prichett.

DoveTales, An International Journal of the Arts is an extension of the mission to promote writing that explores the many aspects of peace.  Their goal is to expose young writers to a diverse collection of thoughtful works by established, and emerging writers.DoveTales includes art and photography, as well as poetry, fiction, and nonfiction, occasionally including interviews with writers and individuals working to promote peace through environmental, human rights, and social justice activism.
