List of Publications/Events/Press Mentions for the month of September 2021

September is always a month of transition for me. Change is movement and movement is life. September is also special to me in more ways than one as it’s my son’s and my birthday month too. In addition to the family celebrations, the month also gave me the opportunity to celebrate poetry. I was proud to share the mission carried by the #100ThousandPoetsforChange and was able to do a poetry reading with my Thursday Morning Group group with the support of the NYPL ( New York Public Library), Jefferson Branch.

I also was honored to be part of the 3rd Annual “Hartford Book Festival” along with my sister poets of the “When Women Speak” group curated and founded by Ameerah Shabazz Bilal.

In addition to publication in the Twin Tower Anthology by the Local gems Press, commemorating the twin decades of the attack at the Twin Towers, I was also the featured poet in the Turkey-based Women Arts Festival “FEMINENART Fest”. Immensely thankful to the festival director Mesut Senol for supporting and featuring my work.

Poetry reading in the moth also included the coveted hybrid event at the Turner Contemporary Arts gallery, the UK for the launch of the book ” Surviving the Suicide” by Nirala Publications. I was honored to share the space with Yuyutsu Sharma, Yogesh Patel, Carrie Magnus Radna, Patricia Carragon, Dean Stalham, Sandy Yannone, and many more.

One of the highlights of the month was the release of the Jersey City Community song ” Stronger”, curated by the Arts House Production, Office of Cultural Affairs, and the artist and songwriter, Carol Lester.

The month wrapped up with me selected as one of the featured poets in the 4th Annual Paterson Poetry festival, founded by  Paterson Poet Laureate, Talena Lachelle Queen.

Looking forward to a creative and poetic October

Happy Poetry!!
