Homeless by Megha Sood

So thrilled to be featured in this poetry journal. Come read my poem and other talented writers.

goodbaad

Those dark cumulus clouds circling in the sky

Pregnant with the rain. A silent pause.

circling the abyss before they fall and wreak havoc.
tightening the vortex around my chest, those grey skies
fondling the belly of the umber earth.

the pain slowly drips and gathers in the drain.
that sluice channels it all over the city.
wreathing in pain. Pointed and pinched by those sharp pointy
heads of the skyscraper.

Anxiety slowly seeping in the pores of this vapid city.
Rain unearth the worms, renders them homeless.

I’m sleeping unaware of this voiceless din.
The hairy worm slowly crawls in my ear.

Burden of Sanity

Megha's World

First published in Writer’s Cafe Magazine Issue 12 “Truth and Lies”

What is the burden of sanity

he gleefully asks

when the sane thoughts in your mind

are paving a streamlined path

a sluice,

which carries the murky and turbid thoughts

away from your heart

so your soul can stay pure and serene

What is the burden of the sanity

when the words uttered in

deep dark corners of

you dark and tumultuous mind

leaves a dark sooty impression

and your soul is a shade darker than

then last time you saw

your reflection in the mirror

What is the burden of sanity

you woefully ask

when the teeth are clenched

and the tongue is shredded

but the heart will die a thousand deaths

if you let it have its way

What is the burden of the sanity

you smirk fully asks

when its rips and

shreds the reputation

your honor

your broken back…

Nakedness

Megha's World

First published in The Quiet Letter, July 2018

casper-nichols-289152-unsplashNakedness
has no concept
No definition
My poems have been devoid of emotions
utterly stripped of verses and syllables
with words stripped of its frame
and body
nothing seems to hold on
and stay glued to it
the body is bare
ready to mocked and scraped
and devoured by the
unscrupulous mind
with their turbid thoughts
As the night is patched by the
one eye of the
dark and sullen moon
I stare in the nights
my eyes are devoid of the light
gazing from the emptiness to nothing
they have lost the definition of hope
like the feeling of satiation
in the sunken folds of stomach
Of a hungry child
Like the palms of my granny
whose lines have been scraped clean
by the merciless
whiplash of time
I stand here with the
barren mind
devoid of thoughts
searching fervently

Week Three: An Unquiet Mind Writing Prompt Challenge

Go Dog Go Café

Week Three Prompts WordPress.FacebookThis November Brave and RecklessGo Dog Go Café, and Heretics, Lovers, and Madmen are teaming up to host An Unquiet Mind Writing Prompt Challenge. At the beginning of each week, we will provide daily writing prompts inspired by titles of memoirs and novels that explore life with mental illness.

We will also provide the Goodread links for the book prompts if you would like to explore any of the titles in greater depth.

Although these prompts are designed to inspire you to write a poem, prose piece, piece of flash fiction, or art in 30 minutes or less, we realize these prompts may be difficult for some readers. We sincerely apologize if any of the prompts are triggering for you.

The only rule is that you use the book title as your piece title OR integrate all the words in the title into your piece somehow. …

Centre Stage

Megha's World

scott-umstattd-137399-unsplash.jpg

We are at the center stage
hounded and cheered by the million hungry eyes
ready and pumped to get
a piece of the entertainment
of their life
to get that taste of the bloodied reality
and voyeuristic truth
we have been gulping down our throats
through all this life

We are at the center stage
burned and scalded by the spotlight
where every happiness is put at stake and
the eyes have been blinded
fake and empty
desires
seeded in our bleared eyes
blinded for centuries

We are at the center stage
ready to be judged for every mortal sin
we have committed in this lifetime
and will be cheered by many
when the
grim reaper takes our soul
and begins that sacrilege

We are at the center stage
Let the games begin
Let me win or lose
Let me play my stakes.
