Memories

Soft murmurs in my soul

those fleeting whispers

which drowns the cacophony

of my tumultuous mind

a break, rip and a tear

here and there

and emotions come flying

out like the caged birds,

fireflies trapped in a jar

ready to soar high

in the cerulean skies

or take a dip in your

crimson love,

messengers of

my woebegone love

Come, read those scribbled notes

etched in my soul

and carve in my psyche

before I lost them

to the ripples of time

Come dip your toe

in them

and let those

scars washed

away slowly

before

I lose them forever

to this cruel time.

  1. Time swallows all – best to enjoy moments when they can. Love the images of freeing emotions like freeing caged birds and trapped fireflies.

  2. I have missed reading your wonderful poetry my friend. This is a poem that my soul related to instantly. “Those fleeting whispers” have increased in number and intensity as I have aged. It seems that reaching a 75 year milestone has resulted in looking back over those years. Thank you for expressing these feelings that I have been unable to. 🙂❤️
