A stranger amongst us
An encroachment in the middle
you are snatching
away our sanctity
posing a danger to us
standing tall in the middle,
an imminent threat,
a mess to deal with,
we have build
tall picket fences around us
To keep us safely in
A rising nuisance in the
residential Spaces
We brought down
big and mighty woods
To weave our big mansion
To rest our tiny hearts in
in the comforts of the worldly sin
We should have just got you killed
Euthanized,
Tranquilized,
So we can sleep comfortably
in our cozy warm bed
nestled in the comforts of our big house
on the piece of land
we heartlessly and mercilessly
snatched and grasped
to call our own.

I’m a mother of a smart and energetic seven-year-old. I started expressing myself creatively since the last two years. Since then I have been continuously inspired by events in my life and around me which has helped me in penning my thoughts.
I’m an avid reader, loves to sing, an ardent lover of poetry and sometimes can scribble few lines too. Loves to dance in the rain, have an undying love for nature, can watch the beautiful sunset for hours. Love to kiss and hug my loved ones.
I have worked in the IT field for almost a decade as a manager, worked crazy hours and traveled around the world. In that busy schedule, I never got the time to creatively express my thoughts. Now every time I finish a poem, free verse anything it fills me with so much happiness and excitement and a feeling to have created something of my own. I’m planning to post at least one creation of mine weekly.
Lastly, a million thanks to all who visit, like or follow my tiny bits of creation.
Every time you do that, I get to know one more beautiful person in my life and get the chance to see their creation too.

Brilliantly written. I love the discomfort felt in this piece and that it could be an analogy for anyone who feels threatened. Your writing really sticks to the bones. Bravo!

Thanks so much for understanding the underlying emotion.I wrote it in the context of the encroachment in the forest which is slowly distroying the habitat of animals but as you said it can be an analogy to anyone who is threatened

Thanks.I wrote this in a recent visit to a friend place in suburbs where the homes have been constructed after cutting down the local forest

Welcome. I love how this visit inspired you he piece. We often forget that so many creatures are displaced when we remove their habitats so we can inhabit them.

Yes I have seen lots of deer getting killed on the highways as they come down from the hills as their homes are being cut down .
I feel bad about it

That is terrible. I know what you mean. Unfortunately, in some areas, it is the cost of development.

What a beautiful write up. The lurking stranger and the layers of darkness forcing to accept that house as your own. Loved it

Oh my..you have added another dimension to my poetry with your beautiful review.
Thanks Shantanu.I wrote as a fact of increased encroachment in the suburban areas which leads to the distruction of their nature habitat.

Power, I resonate with this deeply. Especially having to fight manipulation every single day. It is only natural for us to fight the tide if our space or freedom is threatened. I love it.

Sadly profoundly true and I felt the visual honesty of your words…..
“We should have just got you killed
Euthanized,
Tranquilized,
So we can sleep comfortably”
…….. and I’m afraid these lines can also pertain to some of our indigenous people, who have suffered horrific genocide, in name of “progress’s” better ways… !!!!

Yes, very true.I am horrified to know the details of how they have been mistreated in this country and still are.
In one of my trips I took a trip to an Indian nation in Utah , Bannock tribe. I wrote a poem about the atrocities they faced and it got published and got showcased in Manhattan.

Have you got a link for that poem Megha, I’d like to read it. I’m afraid our aboriginals here in Australia have also suffered terrible atrocities.

Well crafted vision of how man makes strangers of others around him, especially from the animal world.

Yes, the current rate of deforestation is rendering these animals homeless. A stranger in their own world.
