My first poetry reading – “Survivor” as part of the National Endowment of Arts big read event – “Survival is Insufficient” series

I’m so thrilled and excited to share this wonderful news with all of you. Today I did my first poetry reading in my local community of  Jersey City writers. My poemSurvivor” was of the 10 finalists which got selected in the “Survival is insufficient” series hosted by the Jersey City writers and Jersey City Arts and Culture. So thankful to Co-Chair Rachel Poy for giving me the opportunity.

Inspired by the NEA’s Big Read selection Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel, Jersey City Writers celebrated the triumph of the human spirit over the disaster.

The event was hosted in the Historic Apple Treehouse. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 16, 2006.

Looking forward to many more.

Happy blogging!

      1. Yeah!!!! So you will have to let me know when the Big Event is so I can cross my fingers for you again!! LOL!! Hang on. You’re going to hit Warp Speed if you keep this up, Girl!!! So happy for you! There is nothing like the first time reading one’s poetry in front of an audience! That was the very first time I finally accepted the fact that “I was a poet”!!! We are so proud of you and rooting you on!!

      1. I have done it, the only community that exist in this piece of crap town is a community that are selling not legal ¨medicines¨. In front of my apartment that I share with 3 other people. Had my fights with them and now we´re in pretty good terms. I pay very little rent for the room that´s the reason of residing here. It´s another world compared to yours.
I´m not very sure what these people would think if one day I walk out the front and tell them to read and edit my first chapter of my novel in progress………..They don´t speak English and actually their Spanish is barely understandable. I was one of them in another life. But I can gurantee you that they´ll somehow make money with my novel. Criminals are very creative, cunning, good sells people.
I´ll stick with the community of wordpress, my online university as I call it.
