Ignorant

“We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.”
― Plato

I’m weighed down by my sins

nailed and crucified

time and time again

it bears a weight on my soul

the daunting

unbearable weight my

soul bears

Tugging and lugging this

sadness and despair

I drag myself everywhere

I carry those little stones

of jealousy, angst, and ego

for balancing the scales

Scraping my knees and

tossing and tumbling

I drag myself to eternity

praying for the redemption

under the bated breath

I wonder

why the gods have

turned away from me

This rising tide

which I’m caught under

with raspy and wheezing

breathing,

I’m too ignorant

 and  full of

false pride

to understand

the price I’m paying

for the sins of thee.
