Rollercoaster

My days are going
like a roller coaster
up and down and
swirling all around
with a bump and a push
it comes to a rolling stop
and swings me again
and rattles me around
my head is going dizzy
and I can feel the earth is spinning
the moment I think the ride is over
the damn machine starts whizzing

My days are going
like a roller coaster
up and down and
swirling all around
it has shaken me enough
and took me for a ride
for long;
I need to feel the
ground beneath my feet
that stable thing
which has been missing
for a while now

My days are going
like a roller coaster
up and down and
swirling all around

Someone
please
Oh! someone
take the
foot off the gas;
or take out the key
bring  it to a stop
this whirling tornado
and kick its ass.

  1. Ah, what challenges life drives us through, like a jet propelled flash, in an instant it can change and put us on another kind of ride…less challenging, coasting, until, swoosh we are once again caught in the whirlwind. Good post Megha.

  2. A great metaphor for life. I’ve used this many times in describing life and love. Also, really love how you use the prompt. Sadly, in order for life to come to a halt, I think we must die. Even then, if some scriptures are correct, the soul never rests at all. Thought provoking and well-written!
