They always do..

When you have ridden for so long
and the wind passing your face
doesn’t feels pleasant anymore
the clickety clack of the wheels
rolls around as  life
coming back to the same spot
no matter how much you change
you just pretend it just doesn’t affect you anymore
Believe me, it does
They always do

When you turn a deaf ear
to all those nagging and
empty threat
and those empty voices trying to bring you down
those slurs which make the dent in your soul
you brush off your shoulder
and turns a cold shoulder
and pretend it just affect you anymore
Believe me, it does
They always do

When your emotions are ripped out
and your lonely heart face the blows
and waiting all this time has brought nothing
but the everlasting blues
Here I am
Here I play the survivor again
and pretend it just doesn’t affect you anymore
Believe me, it does
They always do

When you feel you just have to face this
harsh truth called reality
and then everything will be all well
as it is written in scriptures and
all the wise people say
when you wish the next hurdles
will be not putting blisters on
your arms and foot
and believe it will all go away
and pretend it just affect you anymore
Believe me, it does
They always do

And in the middle of the night
when you are lying in the bed
and smoking your last cigarette
and trying to remember the face of the
girl who smiled at you today
thinking that it can’t be true love
it’s just another day
and pretend it just doesn’t affect you anymore
Believe me, it does
They always do.

    1. You can only write when you feel.and Yes we should be able to shut ourselves to the untoward emotions but I guess it comes with the territory of keeping our hearts open.Doesn’t it?
Thanks so much for your precious feedback, Shantanu.
