Infection

An infection
a contagion
a foreign body
trying to take over mine
never welcomed on the host body
to claim theirs what’s mine
you slowly took over my senses
and I relinquished control to you
a hapless decisions
taken so fervently
a flawed approach
at its core
It started as a symbiosis
and we were happy
being with each other
days rolled into nights
and slowly the parasite
seemed to fester
you slowly sucked away the
essence of my life, my aura
leaving me dull and pain
love can also be an infection
too hard to abstain.

This poem is in response to the daily prompt Foreign
