Sleep

Today I’m sharing with my blogging family a poem very special to my heart as this was the first ever poem I wrote. I never had the courage to share this with anyone until today. It’s not laced with any poetic metaphors but still moves me whenever I read it. Hoping you would like it too.

And in the absence of the light
I clench my fist
And fight the darkness
And with sweaty palms
And a pounding heart
I wait

wait for the light to reveal itself
To reveal and soak up all my fears
To give me close and tight hug
To wipe and drink my tears

running down my cheeks
To let me put my head in his lap
and sleep
sleep for eternity.
Yes, I wish to sleep
Sleep till eternity.
